S.A.M. (Server Auditing Monitoring) and S.I.M.O.N. (Sensitive Instrument Monitoring with Opportunistic Notification) robots perform autonomous auditing, inventory and monitoring of computer servers, sensitive engineering and scientific instruments as a part of server room and lab space routine maintenance. These robots will have the capability to perform:
• Traffic counts
• Video capture
• Environmental monitoring (temperature, humidity,
emissions,etc)
• Physical inventories
• Chemical spill detection (removal under certain conditions)
• Small equipment/material placement
• Dust and particle removal (for some classes of
computers and instruments)
• Logging and digital reporting
The robots designs are low-cost, open-source software and hardware with cots parts.
